An Election Prediction

Oct. 29. I am now 89 years and three days old, and feeling cockier than usual. I am blessed with good health. My newspaper column is fini, and I have evolved into this blog as an outlet for my opinions.
I’m still mobile, but it is slow going because my wheels are worn out after 85 years of usage. Sports have taken a toll, especially tennis, my principal sport. Tennis is sudden fast stops and turns. I still play, but my strategy is to get a fast partner and say "Yours" or "You take it."
I again thank Bush senior for commenting that he forgets things he should remember and remembers things best forgotten.
I’ve never hesitated to make predictions. They don’t jeopardize my reputation because my reputation is being wrong more than right. On that note, I predict that Kerry’s margin of victory will be substantial. And he’ll carry a flock of Democrats into public offices with him.
And Barack Obama will be the first person of color to become President.

Congratulations Jack. 89. Wow. I am just lucky to be 47. I sure hope you are correct about Kerry. W has got to go.

"my reputation is being wrong more than right"

I hope it continues Jack. Four more of Bush. That Kerry's got to go.

With Kerry we will see higher taxes. With Kerry we will see further erosions of the 2nd amendment. With Kerry we will see a faster escalation into a socialist nation.

Not that I am that please with Bush with him turning a blind eye to what the illegal immigration has done to this country but I will stick with him as the alternative is a disaster.

Let's take a few things up one at a time.

1. "With Kerry we will see higher taxes."
John Kerry will raise the taxes on those earning over $200K... he has stated such. More specifically, he will roll back the tax cuts by which George Bu$h has plundered the treasury, giving real money to his campaign cronies and giving debt to my children and grandchildren. Face it. The boomer generation supported increases in Soc. Security taxes, the money to be invested in US Savings Bonds to help pay for our retirement years, rather than overburdonning our children. George Bu$h stole that money and gave it to his rich campaign supporters. Rather than a Soc Security system solvent to the year 2075, it will, eventually be tax my children to replace the funds Bu$h stole and gave away.

Yes, if you are earning more than $200K per year, Kerry will raise your taxes back to a level that permitted the growth years of the 90's... and rightly so.

2. With Kerry we will see further erosions of the 2nd amendment.

John Kerry is a sportsman and hunter. There is nothing in his record that would reasonably lead one to conclude that he is going to confiscate your deer rifle or shotgun. However, if your idea of gun ownership is the right to own a 50 calibre semi-automatic sniper rifle with armor piercing bullets so that you can shoot Bambi or, unemcumberred by a waiting period, show it to your wife and marriage counselor, Kerry is not your man. Kerry supports the 2nd Ammendment as it has been interpretted by the courts, not the weird mutation of this right where the UN is trying to disarm the US, private citizens need military firepower in case they have to revolt against the activist judges and gay college professors, and no weapons should be denied to anyone under any circumstances, even for a day or two to accomplish a background check.

3. With Kerry we will see a faster escalation into a socialist nation.

The early Christian church was socialist. It helped the poor, the sick, the women and children. I would find a nation that moves closer to the teachings of Christ, and further from the laws of Leviticus, further from the Hell and brimstone rantings of Apolyptic snake handlers, and further from the punitive obsessions of ignorant nomadic Jews of 3000 years ago a healthy thing. I could easily go for a little more of the Beatitudes and a little less faith based foreign policy... a little less theocratic intolerance.

I guess what you see as reasons to vote for Bu$h I see as good reasons to dump his failed policies, his history of obfuscation, his cronyism, and indeed, the man himself.

Bob

“…I predict that Kerry’s margin of victory will be substantial. And he’ll carry a flock of Democrats into public offices with him.

Well, Jack, It looks like your reputation is intact. God bless you though, I admire your reserve.

We can only hope your part about Obama is wrong also as he would be a disaster. He is much farther to the left than Kerry and even Teddy Kennedy.

As far as my friend ‘fairnbalanced’ goes. Well, God bless you also even though I think your politics is off of the radar. If you like socialism then by all means go to Europe where it is praticed all over the continent.

Taxes should NOT be reinstated or raised for those making more than 200K. In that bunch is a large amount of small business owners. A tax increase for those people would hurt the economy big time.

I got some news for you. This is the United States of America. Not, as some would like a socialist or communist state. Health care is NOT a right. Jobs are NOT a right. A place to live is NOT a right. The constitution guarantees the pursuit of happiness not a RIGHT to it. If you want good health care, a nice place to live or a nice job then by all means get out there and work for them. There are things is place to help those temporarily but in this country we don’t as a matter of course have people work hard just to turn over their money to people who don’t.

This was posted on another board. The subject was electioneering in Waukegan, IL. The author was anonomymous but it speaks volumes about the Democratic Party is about…

All this complaining about electioneering here in Waukegan.
Look, that is just the way it is here. The Democratic Party here is employing tough Cook County political ways to influence the vote any way they can.
Having persons stand out near polling places and handing out palm cards to voters going into the polling places is just politics as usual around here.
But notice how these palm cards are only given out in certain precincts where mostly only certain kinds of voters vote....voters who are more unsophisticated, poorer, more easily influenced and often minorities.
For instance, where I vote in Waukegan is an area where many professionals live who are highly educated. I NEVER see any Democratic electioneering there and NEVER any palm cards.
The local Democratic Party FEEDS off mostly poor and uneducated minorities to stay in power.
This is why it is in the interest of the local Democratic Party and its politicians to keep Waukegan mostly economically disadvantaged, poorly educated and dependent.
And by the way, there is NO MORALS in any of this. It is ALL ABOUT POWER...not about what is right...allowing people to make up their minds about who to vote for as free people.
Such demographics are sooo much easier to influence and reign over....despite the Democratic Party's stated lofty ideals of representing the common people and having principles.
On a broader scale, this is why Kerry lost. The majority of Americans see that the Democratic Party is totally hypocritical. They espouse they are the party of the little people, the forgotten people, the working people....while Democratic pols and leaders live as affluent, powerful elites.
Voters nationally are just plain fed-up with the scum-ball tactics of hypocritical, amoral Democratic pols and party leaders who talk out of both sides of their mouth.
But here in Waukegan, these scum-ball, power hungry, feeding off the poor, dictatorship like amoral tactics work for the Democrats...because there are sooo many powerless, poorly educated persons they can TELL them what to do and they will.
And this is why the local Democratic Party will for many more decades be in power here...because the mostly uneducated, economically-disadvanted, minority demographics here will support their gutter, immoral, un-American M.O. of influencing the vote so as to keep them in power...so they can then freely vote themselves HUGE salaries and lots of lots of benefits.
...which we, the peons, can PAY for....right thru the nose.

Would it be badly received if I were to offer post-election condolences to Jack? And ask if his wish were father to his prediction? Hope not.
